Increased work does not translate into wage increases – ILO: In Albania, productivity growth higher than minimum wage increase
The International Labor Organization (ILO) has published its latest annual report on Wages and Minimum Wages, 2020-2021. The report analyzes almost all countries in the world and focuses mainly on minimum wages. In a ranking of different countries of Europe and Central Asia in terms of wage growth expressed in PPP and productivity growth during the period 2010-2019, it is noted that Albania is next to the countries with the highest productivity growth, to the extent 2.7%, but, paradoxically, alongside those with the lowest minimum wage increase, from an average annual increase of only 1.7%.
So in the span of almost a decade, productivity growth has not been translated proportionally into wage growth.
