Severe drought prompts Gov’t to mark ALL 3 bln for power supply shortages
The Council of Ministers has amended Wednesday night the budget of 2017 through a normative act.
It seems that the main cause of the changes is the crisis in power supply caused by the prolonged drought this summer.
Through the Normative Act, the Government has increased by ALL 3 billion, approximately $ 30 million, the fund available for electricity purchase, bringing it from ALL 1.5 billion to 4.5 billion.
The government has also increased its reserve fund, which from All 1.5 billion rose to ALL 2.7 billion.
Up to ALL 1.2 billion of this fund will be used by budget institutions and the Council of Ministers for unforeseen cases; ALL 500 million will be used for the establishment and functioning of new justice system institutions, and ALL 1 billion for dealing with natural emergencies.
Meanwhile, the Normative Act sees increase in both revenue and budget spending.
Revenues mark a growth of ALL 2 billion, roughly USD 20 million, from ALL 436.4 billion to ALL 438.4 billion.
Unchanged remains the budget deficit, which according to the budget 2017 will be in the level of ALL 31.1 billion.
An increase of ALL 2 billion has also been reported for the fund of local government units, which has been increased by ALL 2 billion, approximately 20 million USD.
