Tax arrears increase by ALL 15 bln in last quarter of 2016
The business community has always complained about the relationship with the tax administration, mainly about fines and VAT non-reimbursement in due time.
But when seeing the records of the General Directory of Taxation, it is noted that the debt value that business owes to the tax administration has increased this year.
At the end of the first quarter of the year, the value of arrears by the enterprise for taxes is at the level of nearly ALL 15 billion, with about ALL 50 million not paid during March.
But according to statistics of the General Directory of Taxation, the greater value of tax arrears belongs to businesses in Tirana with about ALL 2.3 billion, then come the big enterprises, as they are known in everyday operations, VIP businesses, whose value estimated to be ALL 1.7 billion.
Kukes enterprises come next in the ranking with a debt of ALL 53 million, Berat with 33 million, Gjirokastra 31 million, Vlora 28 million, Lezha and Elbasan, respectively with ALL 24 million and 23 million.
When comparing the level of tax arrears with last quarter of 2016, it is estimated that these liabilities have increased by almost ALL 100 million.
To reduce the arrears that businesses owe to the tax administration, a strategy has already been developed which provides that companies can sign a contract-agreement with the tax administration to pay these debts in installments.
This will enable an easing for businesses, and is expected to improve tax revenues to the state budget.
