181 million euro debts to businesses and individuals / VAT refund and lawsuits aggravate the bill
In the first 9 months of the year, central and local public institutions have created a high bill of arrears to businesses and individuals, of about ALL 22.5 billion or EUR 181.4 million. According to the official data of the Ministry of Finance, uncovered by TV SCAN, the largest share of the debt stock is held by the central government institutions.
Divided by items, the non-refundable VAT invoice from the General Directorate of Taxes has reached the value of ALL 11.3 billion for the period January-September 2020, representing the highest value of total liabilities. While the central government has accumulated a stock of ALL 4.8 billion, of which ALL 2.6 billion have cost court decisions for unfair dismissal of administration employees, which have not yet been repaid.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Defense, result in the highest level of debt. Regarding the liabilities of locals, the bill is recorded at 6.3 billion ALL, of which 3 billion ALL are created from investments, due to the opening of projects without sufficient funds from the municipalities.
