Joint Albania-Montenegro railroad station opened
Albania and Montenegro now have a joint railway station.
The inauguration was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri, who said that the flow of commodity exchanges between the two countries is increasing, while this station deepens the cooperation and economic development of both countries.
“Rail freight volumes, ie trade exchanges between Albania and Montenegro for goods coming even from other countries that are using railways are increasing from month to month. The Albanian government is working to pay more attention to the railroad. We have also applied for joint projects in the European Union to improve the share of investments between Albania and Montenegro, so that Albanian Railways increase their transport volumes,” Gjiknuri said.
The opening of the joint station is considered as a joint success of the Albanian and Montenegrin sides, as the only model in the region, which should be followed as an example by all Western Balkan countries.
