Wizz Air to open Tirana-London flights four times a week
Low cost airline Wizz Air announced Monday that it will expand its operations at the airport at Luton Airport in London.
The company said it will add four new planes by June 2018, thus opening up five new destinations.
Additional Airbus 320 planes will create about 150 jobs in Luton, said the airline, as its fleet there will reach 5 planes.
This expansion will allow the line operating mainly in Eastern Europe to launch new destinations to Cyprus, Slovakia, Estonia, Ukraine and Albania.
Aircraft will also be used to increase the frequency of trips to popular destinations such as Israel, Romania and Kosovo.
Flights from Tirana to London have already appeared on the official Wizz Air web-page, and the line will have a frequency of 4 flights per week and will start on 31 May 2018.
Prices will of course be low-cost, and based on those from Pristina to London, are expected to start at 30 euros per flight.
So far, this operator had only one destination in Albania, the one to Budapest.
Expanding the company comes at a time when the company’s revenue is at high levels.
For the first half of the year, the operator posted 288 million euros in profits, 24.6% more than a year earlier.
The number of passengers for this year has also increased by ¼, going to 15.6 million individuals.
