Local government units slated to receive 5% more in unconditional transfers in 2018

The unconditional transfer to local government units for 2018 will be 5% larger than the funds received this year.

According to a supplementary instruction of the Ministry of Finance on budgeting, focusing on local government finances, it is stated that starting from January next year local government units will receive 25% of revenues from annual taxes on the circulation of vehicles, as well as 2% of income from personal income tax.

Whereas specific transfers for the year 2018 will be at the same level of funding as in 2017.

All of these specifications for obtaining funds during the next budgetary year are clearly stipulated in the supplementary instruction of the Ministry of Finance for the drafting of the mid-term budgetary program for local government units.

This instruction contains the final expenditure ceilings and deadlines for the preparation of this draft.

Based on this instruction, the local government units are required to send within September 15, to the Ministry of Finance the medium-term budget draft, while this department is expected to hold consultation sessions with these units by October 5.
