No tax increase during second term: PM Rama with reporters
In the second governing mandate there will be no tax increase.
This is the second good news for the business in Albania follwing the creation of a special ministry for entrepreneurship.
The statement was made by Prime Minister Edi Rama during a working morning with journalists in Llogara, during a resto f the meeting with the entire new governing cabinet.
In addition to the reforms expected to be undertaken in this mandate, the prime minister promised simplification of documentation procedures as well as a reduction in the number of employees in public administration.
“From the number of employees, we have the lowest in the region, state employees working in the administration and being paid by taxes. The number of directors is the highest, because their positions were simply created to make favors.”
We will strengthen the development through the regions, Rama said, while there will be an increase of cooperation with the local government units.
“I think that the number of municipalities is still high, it may be lower in order that we have bigger entities and to have more efficient governance. They believe otherwise, while there is a point where they are right, namely the level of services in the administrative units, which has fallen. I do not think it was better at the time of the municipalities. But this will be part of the Project. We will work with the municipalities, to ensure that administrative units are providing services, and to use technology much more. One of the things we agreed yesterday was that all ministers will immediately start work with a group of experts and by the end of this year will come up with a proposal to have the lowest number of documents a ministry issues to citizens.”
As for the new relationship that he will have with President Meta, Rama said it will be institutional.
