Number of foreign visitors to Albania soars by 34.5% in January
The number of foreign nationals who visited Albania rose once again in January, signaling a positive tourism trend even at the beginning of this year.
According to the Institute of Statistics, 232,000 foreign nationals entered Albania, up 34.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Entries to Albania are dominated by visitors from neighboring countries, led by Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece and Montenegro.
Visitors from these countries accounted for about 75% of the total number of foreign visitors in January.
Visits from neighboring countries, however, mostly relate to travel and commercial trips, significantly more than genuine tourism goals.
However, the number of visitors from other countries, such as England, Germany or the United States, is increasing, despite the low weight that the total number of visitors from these countries still has.
Meanwhile, the number of Albanian visits abroad is growing at a high pace.
According to Instat, 448 thousand Albanian nationals traveled abroad in January, about 21% more compared to the previous year.
