Power-supplying losses reduced to a 28.04% record in 2016: Minister Gjiknuri

Albania-Reduction of losses in the power-supplying network, increase of income and saving money through good management among three operators of the sector have been cited by the Minister of Energy and Industry Damian Gjiknuri as successes achieved in 2016.

In an analysis held over 2016 achievements, Minister Gjiknuri said that improving indicators has a direct impact on the investments made in the fragile sector.

According to him, the focus of the three operators will now be keeping up with investment and restructuring the debt situation.

KESH has currently managed to provide an interest rate of the debt at lower levels since 2013, 3.9 percent, while a game-changer is expected to be an EBRD loan of 218 million euros.

OSHEE, on the other hand, is holding discussions to provide the same credit line with the long term aim to ensure the repayment of its total debt.
