Rinas Airport among the best performing ones in Europe: ACI Europe
Albania’s only airport turns out to have one of the largest growths in Europe throughout the first half of this year.
That’s what Airports Council International Europe (ACI EUROPE) says.
According to the most recent report released by this council, the markets of air traffic in Europe that do not belong to the European Union countries had an average increase of 9.9% over the first half of the year.
For some countries meanwhile, the report states, the growth goes well beyond the 20% rate.
One of these countries is Albania, together with Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine and Montenegro.
So in the region, apart from Albania and Montenegro, no other airport exceeds the 20% growth rate.
This increase is mainly explained by the introduction of new, mainly low-cost airlines, to destinations in Central Europe. The same stands for Montenegro.
Regarding the continent’s largest airports, the biggest five report a 4.3 percent increase in passenger traffic during the first half of the year, with Amsterdam’s Schipoli Airport registering the highest growth rate of 8.7 percent.
