In 2020 Albanians used less mobile phones – Q3, AKEP: The number of active subscribers fell by 5.4%, Internet users by 1.3%
The economic hardships of the year we just left behind, first dictated by the November 26 earthquake and then by the Covid Pandemic 19, have also shrunk the mobile phone sector. The report recently published by AKEP on the performance of this sector in the third quarter speaks of a contraction in all directions, both in the number of subscribers and the volume of calls or messages made between them.
The number of mobile service subscribers according to SIM cards at the end of Q3 2020 was about 3,434,770 from a decrease of 2.1% compared to Q3 2019; The number of active mobile phone users during Q3 2020 reached about 2.44 million also with a decrease of 5.4% compared to Q3 2019; The same fate befell the number of active users of broadband Internet access from mobile networks in T3 2020 was about 1.95 million, marking a decrease of 1.3% compared to the third quarter of 2019.
The reduction in the number of subscribers has translated into a contraction in Albanian communications through mobile phones.
The total outgoing calls generated by mobile subscribers in Albania in Q3 2020 was about 1.37 billion minutes, with a decrease of 3.9% with Q3 2019.
